Timothy W. Burch Named New NSPS Executive Director


The Board of Directors of the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Timothy W. Burch, PLS, as the new Executive Director. Mr. Burch is the current president-elect of the NSPS and is a licensed professional land surveyor in the states of Illinois and Wisconsin. Tim has been involved with the organization for over 20 years as Secretary to the Board of Governors as well as the Board of Directors, Vice President of NSPS, Board Member of Certified Land Surveyors, Joint Government Affairs and the ALTA / NSPS land title. Commissions of inquiry. In addition to contributing to NSPS social media content, he is the creator and producer of the NSPS podcast “Surveyor Says!” And a contributing writer for the NSPS newsletter “News and Views”.

Tim has been involved in the surveying profession for over 30 years and has represented the NSPS at numerous functions and conferences. He has testified on behalf of the profession at the national and federal levels and has partnered with “Get Kids into Surveying”. Tim is currently Chairman of the FIG 1.1 Working Group (Professional Ethics) and President-Elect of FIG Commission 1 (Professional Standards). He is also editor-in-chief of the “Survey Scene” column of GPS World Magazine.

Mr. Burch will succeed Curt Sumner, Managing Director for 23 years, on January 3, 2022.
