Despite the various constraints posed by the Covid pandemic over the more than a year, the Delhi Metro, in its efforts to continually improve the travel experience of its commuters, has successfully introduced the installation of a service Free high speed wifi from all subway stations of its Yellow Line (ie Line 2 from downtown HUDA to Samaypur Badli) from today.
This service, coinciding with the start of the festival season, is launched on this line which consists of 37 metro stations and runs mainly underground through one of the most congested parts of Delhi covering outside Delhi, north Delhi through central Delhi and south Delhi and finally Gurugram. Over 330 access points have been installed at these 37 stations to provide uninterpreted Internet access to commuters. This free high speed Wi-Fi service will prove to be a special boon for students traveling to and from the North Delhi campus of the University of Delhi.
Passengers will be able to use standard internet applications such as email, Facebook, Google search, WhatsApp, video and audio calls, etc. by simply connecting to the “OUI DMRC FREE Wi-Fi” network ID.
The process of accessing free WIFI in the stations is
1. Select “YES DMRC FREE WIFI” on your phone
2. Enter your phone number and email id to get OTP by SMS
3. Enter the OTP, accept the terms and conditions and press the connect button to enjoy free Wi-Fi.
OUI DMRC Free High Speed Wi-Fi connectivity is already available at all Blue Line and Airport Express Line stations (The network has been reestablished after Covid).
The Blue Line (Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida Electronic City / Vaishali) consists of 50 metro stations in which, more than 400 access points are placed by DMRC to provide uninterpreted internet access while Airport Express Line (New Delhi Railway Station at Dwarka Sector 21, connecting Indira Gandhi International Airport) consisting of six stations has been fitted with more than 50 access points to provide uninterpreted Internet access.
With the launch of high-speed Wi-Fi at all stations on the yellow line, “Yes DMRC Free WI-Fi” is now available at 94 stations in the Delhi Metro network. This free Wi-Fi service is provided by a consortium led by M / S Techno Sat Comm.
In addition to providing free Wi-Fi at metro stations in its network, DMRC, in association with Techno Sat Comm, is working to bring this facility to metro trains as well within a year. Upgrading and installing the desired access points is quite a difficult task in already operational trains. DMRC on an atrial basis had introduced free wifi service on its airport line trains, which were suspended due to Covid-induced constraints in 2020 and are now being reinstated within the next 10 to 15 days.
You can contact the helpline number 9541693693 if you have any problems accessing free WIFI services in the metro stations of all these lines.
