By story submitted on August 11, 2021
âWell done, good and faithful servant. »Matthew 25:23
On August 7, 2021, Jackie entered her heavenly home peacefully with her loved ones by her side and was greeted with open arms by her beloved late father Rudy Davis and dear sister Pam. She will be remembered as a brave and courageous warrior whose long journey with ALS ended peacefully.
Jackie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Stan Perry, her precious son James, his step-sons Eric Perry (Eric) and Marcus Perry (Jeni) and his granddaughters Jordan & Allie. She is also survived by her mother Jean Davis, her sisters Donna Wright (Drew) and Valerie Saunders (Rob), her dearest friend Linda, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins ââand cousins.
Jackie received her MA from Old Dominion University, where she also taught for a brief period. She retired as a dental hygienist after dedicating over 40 years to working in a profession she truly loved. In addition to her beloved profession, Jackie has volunteered countless hours for VDHA where she has held many positions including that of President. She was also a delegate for ADHA where her passion for the profession really manifested in defending the dental hygiene industry. Jackie truly cherished the people she met and the friendships and connections she made over the years.
Jackie loved to travel and was able to take many wonderful and memorable trips with her family. It was no secret, however, that her favorite spot was on the beach, spending time with family and friends where she could relax and sink her toes in the sand.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the many kind people who have lovingly looked after Jackie’s needs over the years. Special thanks also to Dare County Social Services, Kitty Hawk Fire & Rescue, Jim “Catfish” Hunter ALS Foundation and Access Partnership, Virginia Beach, VA.
A celebration of Jackie’s life will take place on Saturday August 28, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Currituck Bible Baptist Church located at 6339 Caratoke Hwy, Grandy, NC 27939. For those who prefer, the celebration will also be broadcast live via the church and Pastor Eric Rainwater’s Facebook.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jim “Catfish” Hunter ALS Foundation, PO Box 47, Hertford, NC 27944.
