The nephew of one of Oxford Bus Company’s long-time former employees is following in his uncle’s footsteps, having joined the organization’s internship program.
Adam Marsden, 20, a transportation management student at Aston University, joins us as a network coordinator three years after his uncle, Paul Marsden, retired after 30 years of service.
Adam’s internship will see him working in the service planning department of the Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel and City Sightseeing Oxford.
âNo two days are the same at Oxford Bus Company,â said Adam, who lives in Oxford. âMy Uncle Paul worked here for a very long time behind the wheel of the 300 Park & ââRide service and enjoyed his job every day, it’s easy to see why.
âTaking on new challenges every day in a fast-paced but friendly environment really makes me want to work in route planning when I’m older. I like the challenges we set for ourselves and try to find the most efficient ways to get things done.
Adam is the company’s second intern alongside Glenn DeSousa, now a graduate intern who earned the same degree Adam is currently studying.
Phil Southall, Managing Director of Oxford Bus Company, said: âOur internship program is a great way for students and graduates to gain experience and for us as a company to attract and to recruit young talents who are the future of the industry.
