PATNA: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandviya said on Saturday that National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) students will undertake a mandatory one-year internship in the respective industry to ensure understanding of industry practices and required skills.
“I will make an official announcement about the internship for NIPER students soon. NIPER will establish collaborations with industries in this regard. This will ensure links between industry and academia and on-site practical and industrial exposure to students to help them in their work in the future, Mandviya said.
Speaking as the chief guest of an official program held at NIPER, Hajipur, Mandviya said, “NIPER here can undertake research work on eradication of kala-azar as it is a disease in Bihar. ” Inaugurating an LCMSMS (liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry) laboratory at NIPER, he said, “There are more than 3,000 pharmaceutical companies and more than 10,000 pharmaceutical manufacturing units in the country. This sector needs to be further developed as the country has a huge domestic demand for drugs,” Mandviya said.
The minister is due to inaugurate the new sub-divisional hospital and the national food laboratory buildings in Raxaul on Sunday.
