The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) has unveiled its plans for its 40th anniversary, while reaffirming its commitment to the development of taxation.
Institute President Adesina Adedayo, speaking to the press, recently highlighted the importance of the celebration, given the achievements and contributions of the institute to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy in the during its four decades of existence.
He recounted how CITN started in 1982 as the Association of Tax Administrators and Practitioners and then grew to become a charter, which earned it legal recognition to regulate only the tax profession in Nigeria.
He said, “From this period to this day, the institute has grown in leaps and bounds, hence the reason for this celebration of our great institute. Noteworthy is the continued effort of our founding fathers to conceptualize the birth of the institute, the maintenance of its vision and mission and, most importantly, the governance structure that has been able to handle the challenges, leadership success and succession.
Adedayo specifically recognized the media in the institute’s growth story, adding that their continued partnership and support would strengthen the institute’s focus on developing the tax profession in the country.
The boss of CITN was enthusiastic about the consistency of the institute with the ideals of the vision that founded it, particularly in the field of training, development and certification of qualified and competent members.
He said: “The CITN has made sure to live up to its duty to continuously enlighten and educate the public and stakeholders, both through members of the profession and through companies. district and institute.
“We do this through advice, involvement and participation in activities aimed at improving the legislative, administrative and policy frameworks of education, tax administration and practice. We make an informed contribution to the direction of government tax and fiscal policies and also keep our members informed on emerging tax policies and related issues.
Earlier, when posting the Anniversary Event Order, CITN 40th Anniversary President Foluso Fasoto informed that the event will run from January 28, 2022 to February 5, 2022.
He said: “The event will begin with the Jumaat anniversary service at Alausa Central Mosque in Lagos and all other designated mosques in all district societies across the country and will end with dinner at mainland hotels in Lagos. “
