LAKE FOREST, Illinois (CBS) – The Bears are reduced to a preseason game to reduce the roster and prepare for the regular season.

CBS 2’s Jackie Kostek visited Halas Hall on Monday to see how the offensive line recovers some key players on time.

“We really didn’t have that starting line together all of training camp,” Bears head coach Matt Nagy said.

With a week to go, several key members of the Bears’ offensive line are back, including right guard James Daniels and right tackle Germain Ifedi.

“We just want to keep improving each day, said Ifedi. “I’m Mr. Cliché, but I know we’re doing our job every day and getting a little better. “

A question mark remains in the left tackle – a competition currently brewing between rookie Larry Borom and 18-year-old league veteran Jason Peters.

“Come watch the game or practice and see if they can see if I’m 39 or not,” said Peters. “I feel good. I still have my speed, my strength.

Peters still goes to camp, but the Super Bowl champion from his time with the Philadelphia Eagles says the camaraderie and chemistry on the O-Line will come with time – and hard work.

“If I do my job, it’s going to help (quarterback Justin) Fields, it’s going to help (quarterback Andy) Dalton,” said Peters. “All you have to do is do your job and that will help the whole team. “

As to whether we’ll see any of those returning offensive starters play against Tennessee on Saturday, Nagy said getting reps is important while balancing that injury risk.

When asked if he wanted to play the last pre-season game, Ifedi said yes.
