The Phoenix Suns have seen a major increase in success over the past two seasons, largely thanks to key figures such as coach Monty Williams and guards Chris Paul and Devin Booker.
Williams, tasked with assembling the talent given to him and making the right choices on the court, won NBA Coach of the Year honors last season.
Paul, who was acquired via trade in November 2020, instantly helped turn the Suns into a serious contender with his talent on the field and his leadership in the locker room.
Drafted in 2015, Booker managed to crack a slew of weak rosters on his journey to becoming one of the league’s best players, finishing fourth in MVP voting and earning All-NBA First-Team ratings last year.
All three know how crucial they are in Phoenix’s pursuit of winning the franchise’s first NBA title.
Booker recently sat down with USA Today’s Cameron Tabatabaie in an insightful interview and opened up about his relationship with Paul and Williams.

Devin Booker on Monty Williams
“He means it all. He’s a real one. He’s one of those people that when you talk to him, he looks you right in the eye and you feel everything he says,” Booker explained.
“It’s so much more than just the sport of basketball. He enjoys developing personal relationships and anything basketball-related is a bonus. We just share a common interest or a common love for the game. He really cares about how you are doing, and how you are in your day-to-day life.”

“Our relationship just keeps growing. We’ve both been CAA clients for a long time. -draft, and CP would show up at our practices,” Booker said.
“He’s always been a mentor, someone you can reach out to. Obviously, being the president of the NBPA for a long time, he understands the business. So he gives you so many different perspectives. And he has seen so many different things. He’s a great person.
“And on the pitch, we’ve taken it to new heights. We always say, ‘iron sharpens iron.’ That’s how our relationship has been, just seeing his work ethic, seeing his drive and everything that makes him a Hall of Famer in the first round.
